Florida Fresh & Other Slices

Many people don't know what old Florida was like so I want to show you all that's historic, beautiful, retro, kitschy and untamed. Much of it has changed now, but you can still be a part of the adventure if you look in the right places. I love writing about Florida and submissions are always welcomed.

Enjoy your stay in the F.L.A.

Our Florida.

My original intent for this blog was to inspire my writing. Dealing with sourcing and permission to share does come with a bit of road rash if one is not careful. In this age of technology it’s easy for anyone to save, cut and paste and call things there own, but I don’t condone that sort of thing. I believe that any person, historical society, collector, library, or university that creates something- or scans a picture they found in granny’s attic- and posts it online has full right to credit. The conflict I had this morning was proof about how you can’t reason with someone who is convinced they’re right. It turns they were wrong. What I assumed was someones personal collection were images lifted with no indication of source unless it was submitted by another Facebook user. That means I’ve inadvertently posted some images without its proper credit. Pardon my French… That SUCKS. You have my apologies Tumblr.
So the intent of inspiring my writing has fallen by the wayside, but it’s too important to ignore for much longer. I may slow on the posts a little while I work on my other blog so I hope you’ll be patient. Some people prefer straight up history blogs so I understand if you don’t want to follow a different type of Tumblr. There’s also the fact that some people don’t get my humor, but that’s ok because it’s a big Internet world out there. Thank God right? Don’t get me wrong, this page isn’t going anywhere, but eventually it will slow down because of other goals I’ve set for myself. Atleast with words I know that what I write comes directly from my heart so I won’t have to worry about stepping on anyone’s toes.
I might offend, but atleast that will be 100% me.
