I hope I didn’t bore you too much with images of Presidents in Florida.
One thing I discovered today was the Historical rankings of Presidents that have been compiled over time. It amazes me that when people actually used their brains to decide this it didn’t matter which party they were in. They come very close to agreeing who was a really great leader and who totally sucked. Looking at history it’s evident that some were cut from a different cloth because life was leaner, meaner, harder, and shorter.
I know this is a loaded topic and open for WIDE interpretation, but I consider greatness in leadership as a quality that brings people together for the common good of their country. It means inspiring you to be the best you can in all areas of education, the arts, sports, and sciences. In order to do this you also need sweat, integrity, and money. I know it’s easier said than done in this economy and in the end you have to rely on yourself. Don’t be like the office characters in the movie Ikiru who are inspired to help the community when their tragic supervisor dies, but lose steam and go back to being inefficient government bureaucrats.
Greatness can benefit the world if it’s redefined to include tolerance, respect, dignity in death and passion for the basic care of all citizens.
